About this app
Better Usage Meter is a macOS menu bar app that monitors AI usage across Claude, Codex, Cursor plan spend, Grok Bot (Cursor), Grok, Gemini, and local OpenAI-compatible endpoints — tokens, costs, streaks, and rate limits — without leaving your workflow.
LIVE USAGE MONITORING
A compact menu bar icon shows at-a-glance quota across the providers you enable. Claude reads your existing Desktop cookies or Claude Code credentials (read-only). Codex can fetch the live shared ChatGPT quota or fall back to local ~/.codex logs.
OPTIONAL PROVIDERS
Cursor plan spend and Grok Bot product usage from the IDE session already on this Mac (off by default)
Grok weekly credits via the x.ai billing endpoint (off by default)
Gemini Code Assist daily quota (off by default)
Local llama-swap / vLLM / LM Studio endpoints — models and host telemetry, with API keys read from a named environment variable and never stored
TOKEN & COST ANALYTICS
Input, output, and cache token breakdowns by session and by day
Real-time cost calculation based on per-model pricing
Usage trend predictions so you can pace your work
Cache hit analytics showing where you're saving money
INTELLIGENT ALERTS
Set per-provider thresholds — Better Usage Meter notifies you before you hit rate limits or a dollar spend cap.
PRIVACY FIRST
