About this app
Better Shades is an iOS and macOS app that discovers and controls Screen Innovations "Troy" shade controllers entirely over the local network, with no cloud, account, or bridge hardware required. It scans the subnet to find a Troy controller (or lets you add one by IP), then walks its address table to list every shade, group, and smart plug it manages. Open, Stop, and Close commands are confirmed against real hardware, while preset stepping and plug on/off use best-effort integration verbs clearly labeled by confidence level. Built as a single Swift 6.2 multiplatform target on stuarttech-shared (StuartTechNetworking, StuartTechCore, StuartTechUI), it speaks the same plain-HTTP CGI API as Troy's own web UI, reverse-engineered and documented in the app's research notes.
