About this app
Better Firewall is an open-source macOS outgoing firewall that gives complete per-app and background-service network visibility using Apple's NetworkExtension framework. A privileged NEFilterDataProvider System Extension observes every outbound flow and enforces rules in its hot path, communicating with the SwiftUI app over XPC while SwiftData persists rules and rolling traffic history. The dashboard surfaces live connection review with one-click rule creation from real traffic, curated ad/tracker/threat blocklist stacks, bandwidth and behavior-anomaly intelligence, and a protection posture score, all in a silent-by-default, alert-fatigue-free workflow. Built entirely with Swift 6.2, @Observable, actors, and no legacy patterns.
