More about Better Finder
Overview
About this app
Better Finder is a native macOS file search utility built on the system Spotlight index (NSMetadataQuery) for near-instant glob searches like *.png or report-2026-*.pdf, with live results that update automatically as files are created, renamed, or deleted. A two-column NavigationSplitView pairs a sidebar of filters, scope limiting, and saved searches with a sortable results table and inspector, backed by a pure @Observable, @MainActor domain model with no ViewModel layer. It supports date filtering, one-click Open/Reveal/Copy Path actions, Quick Look previews, multi-selection, bounded async folder-size calculation, and full persistence of search state across launches. A direct filesystem enumerator is available as an alternative search provider when Spotlight indexing isn't an option.
